The Vendicari Tower was built to defend the ancient dock, further suited for tuna fishing and owned by the Munafò family of Modica in the early 20th century. The remains of a Hellenistic-Roman fish-processing factory can be admired. An important mosaic from the 4th century A.D. can be found inside the Roman villa on the river Tellaro.
